Alandica Shipping Academy (ASA) educates for tomorrow’s sustainable maritime industry. We provide qualified maritime education in Åland. Our programmes include courses and further training for seafarers, as well as basic education at upper secondary and higher education level at Ålands yrkesgymnasium and Högskolan på Åland respectively.


Alandica Shipping Academy announces the following position, starting 01.07.2025

Digital Communicator 60%

The Digital Communicator’s main responsibility is to market Alandica Shipping Academy through various digital and printed media.

We are looking for someone with strong skills in creating digital video content for digital platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

Job duties:

  • produce digital content in image, video and text formats, both for digital marketing and for various presentations and similar purposes

  • work with the website for both ASA and ASA Safety Center

  • produce printed materials for marketing

  • be responsible for the organisation’s social media, including planning and publishing

  • handle other tasks assigned by the supervisor that fall within the area of operations

Eligibility requirements for the position are:

Completed upper secondary education

Basic salary currently: 3132,62 euros/month

ASA Safety Center announces the following positions, starting 01.07.2025

Instructor

The Instructor’s main responsibility is to work as an instructor in the courses delivered under ASA Safety Center, both STCW and other training programmes. In addition to course activities, the instructor shall also carry out maintenance and develop the course programmes at ASA Safety Center.

ASA Safety Center is announcing three positions as Instructor. For two of the positions, smoke diving duties are included as part of the work. Good language skills in English and/or Finnish, both spoken and written, as well as experience in teaching and experience in maritime safety work, are considered merits for the position.

Eligibility requirements for the positions are:

Completed and approved Firefighter qualification, 600 hours, from the Swedish Rescue Services Agency (SRV) schools in Sweden, or Rescue Worker qualification (3 terms) from the Emergency Services College in Finland, or equivalent training.

Or:

Officer of the Watch (Deck) or Officer of the Watch (Engine) qualification, or equivalent training.

Basic salary currently: 3625,18 euros/month

A temporary Instructor is needed

ASA Safety Center announces the following full-time temporary position, starting 12.02.2024 or as agreed, until 31.08.2024.

The Instructor’s main responsibility is to work as an instructor in the courses delivered under ASA Safety Center, both STCW and other training programmes in different languages: Swedish, Finnish and English. In addition to course activities, the instructor shall, in cooperation with the Lead Instructor, develop the course programmes and other operations at ASA Safety Center.

Eligibility requirements for the position are: Officer of the Watch (Deck) or Officer of the Watch (Engine) qualification, or equivalent education, and experience in maritime safety work. Good language skills in English and/or Finnish, both spoken and written, as well as experience in teaching, are considered merits for the position.

Basic salary currently: 3110,36 euros/month. A general supplement of 121,24 euros is added, as well as any seniority supplements in accordance with the collective agreement.
