• How do I know which courses need to be renewed?

  If you hold Finnish certificates, you’ll find the answer at Traficom. If you hold Swedish certificates, check with the Swedish Transport Agency.

• What is a Combo Refresher?

  With a Combo Refresher course, you have the opportunity to renew four safety courses in less than a week. The courses included are Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (lifeboat course), Basic Safety Training, Advanced Fire Fighting, and in some cases FRB.

  If you only need two of the courses, you can book them separately.

• I want to book a Combo Refresher. What information do you need from me?

  We need the following details from you:

  • Contact information
  • Personal identity number / Finnish ID (signum)
  • Invoicing details

  If you require certificates for Traficom, we need to see a copy of your Combo Certificate (CoP).
  If you wish to be registered with the Swedish Transport Agency, the Training Supervisor will check your prerequisites and contact you if anything needs to be supplemented.

• Why is a lifeboat refresher sometimes one day and sometimes two?

  Courses that span two days are usually scheduled to match the ferries’ arrival and departure times.

• Will I make it back to Turku on the afternoon ferry if the course ends at 16:00?

  We require full attendance in our courses, and you must stay until all exercises are completed and the instructor has confirmed that the course is finished. This means we cannot guarantee that you will make the ferry.

• What does it mean when a course is conducted as e-learning?

  The course is divided into two parts. A theoretical part is completed digitally through our online learning platform. You will receive a confirmation email when you book your course. In the email, you will find detailed instructions on how to log in and complete the training. Read more about the e-learning here.

• What do I need to bring to the course?
  • ID document
  • Smartphone or tablet for the digital tests (available to borrow if you don’t have your own)
  • Warm and durable outdoor clothing
  • Thin gloves
  • Hat
  • Sturdy outdoor shoes

  For pool exercises, you will need:

  • Towel
  • Long-sleeved t-shirt
  • Long underwear/tights
  • Socks

  Dress according to the weather and season. ASA Safety Center provides all protective equipment.
