Basic Safety Training, refresh

Basic Safety Training Refresh is the course for those who need to update their Basic Safety certificate. You will maintain your qualification to work on board without restrictions on voyage area or vessel size.

After successfully completing the course, you can apply for a Basic Safety Training certificate from either Traficom (Finland) or the Swedish Transport Agency.

The course includes e-learning, which you will gain access to three weeks before the course starts. Read more about e-learning here.

Coffee and lunch on both days are included in the course price.

Course components

• Preparatory theoretical e-learning
• Survival techniques
• Fire protection training
• First aid
• Personal safety and social responsibility

Prerequisites

• A previously issued Basic Safety certificate
• A valid medical certificate for seafarers not older than two years.
• Approved e-learning before participating in the practical components at the training ground.
• Transportstyrelsen: At least three months of relevant sea service within the last five years. You also need a previous Swedish BST certificate or an endorsement for Regulation VI/1, or certification as Deck Officer Class VII, VI, V, IV, III, II, or Master Mariner, Engineer Officer, Marine Engineer.
• Traficom: Previously issued BST certificate
